While April comes to a close, so too does the nationally recognized Sexual Assault Awareness Month. California State University San Marcos has especially remained proactive in raising awareness of sexual assault and violence year-round, allowing it to be one of the
safest universities to attend in California. The
Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) has played a large role in advocating against sexual assault/violence/abuse as well as aiding victims of such offensives. They have actively participated in a number of projects, most especially through the use of visual arts, to call for action against such acts. The
Red Sand Project is one of them, bringing awareness to human trafficking in a curious way.
